Frequently Asked Questions
In a low-risk pregnancy, we typically recommend a check-up once a month until 28 weeks, every two weeks from 28–36 weeks, and weekly after 36 weeks until delivery. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or any complications, we may recommend more frequent visits to monitor you and your baby closely.
Not every visit requires an ultrasound. We typically schedule key scans at specific milestones — such as the dating scan, the NT scan around 11–13 weeks, the anomaly scan around 18–20 weeks, and growth scans in the third trimester. Additional scans may be added if your pregnancy needs closer monitoring.
Absolutely. We welcome your partner, or any support person you’d like by your side, to attend appointments, scans, and even your delivery. Pregnancy is a journey best shared, and we encourage you to have your support system involved wherever possible.
Ideally, as soon as you get a positive pregnancy test or miss your period — even before 8 weeks. An early visit helps us confirm your pregnancy, check your baby’s heartbeat and location, and start you on the right supplements and guidance from the very beginning.
You’ll go through routine blood and urine tests, screening for conditions like thyroid disorders, anaemia, gestational diabetes, and infections, along with ultrasound scans at key stages. If you have any pre-existing health conditions, we’ll customize additional tests based on your needs.
Certain factors can make a pregnancy high-risk — including age (under 18 or over 35), pre-existing conditions like diabetes, thyroid disorders or hypertension, a history of miscarriage or pregnancy complications, twin or multiple pregnancies, or complications that develop during this pregnancy. We assess your risk profile at your very first visit and monitor accordingly.
In many cases, yes — this is called a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean), and it’s something we evaluate carefully based on your medical history, the reason for your previous C-section, and how your current pregnancy is progressing. We’ll discuss whether this is a safe option for you well before your due date.
It’s completely normal to feel anxious, especially with your first pregnancy or after a difficult past experience. Please talk to us openly — we take time to address your concerns, explain what to expect, and help you feel informed and confident rather than fearful. You’re never “just a patient” here; we walk this journey with you.
Yes, we provide personalized nutritional guidance at every stage of your pregnancy, including vegetarian diet plans suited to Gujarati households, so you can nourish yourself and your baby in a way that fits naturally into your daily life.
You can book your consultation by calling us directly or through our website. As Shela’s own women’s hospital, we’re right in your neighbourhood — no long drives across the city needed for your regular check-ups.
